On August 20, a carbon‑neutrality certification award‑giving ceremony was grandly held at VAMA Gonvarri Advanced Automotive Steel Solutions (GONVVAMA Shenyang) Co., Ltd. The plant was officially issued a carbon‑neutrality verification certificate by China Certification Center (CBC), achieving site‑wide operational carbon neutrality for the 2025 reporting year. It becomes the second production base within the group to attain plant‑level carbon neutrality.

As a national‑level Green Factory, the Shenyang site has long implemented the group’s green and low‑carbon development strategy, carrying out systematic carbon‑reduction initiatives across energy mix, production processes, resource recycling and on‑site ecological conservation.
In terms of energy transition, the plant has tapped into renewable‑energy potential by installing rooftop photovoltaic panels and solar‑powered carports to maximize on‑site consumption of clean energy. It has steadily procured off‑site green electricity and completed full electrification of its diesel‑powered forklift fleet, cutting fossil‑fuel consumption at source. New‑energy charging facilities have also been installed on‑site to encourage green commuting among employees and embed low‑carbon awareness into daily office operations.
Within manufacturing workflows, the plant focuses on process upgrades and resource circularity. Core processes including laser tailor‑welding and blanking have been continuously optimized to raise raw‑material utilization rates, with 100 % of metallic scrap generated during production recovered and recycled. Multiple energy‑saving measures such as skylight retrofits and intelligent LED‑lighting upgrades make full use of natural daylight to lower energy consumption for production and administration. Zoned energy‑consumption control and refined water‑saving management have also been deployed to embed energy‑efficiency improvements into every operational detail.
Beyond emission cuts from production, Shenyang Plant has built an eco‑friendly green campus through multi‑layered landscaping featuring lawns, arbor trees and hedgerows, unlocking the site’s natural carbon‑sequestration potential. After exhausting internal‑reduction opportunities, the plant conducted greenhouse‑gas accounting in strict compliance with international standards ISO 14064‑1 and ISO 14068‑1. Residual emissions were fully offset by purchasing and retiring verified wind‑power VCS carbon credits via the Hong Kong Stock Exchange Core Climate platform. All accounting and offset documentation are complete and traceable, delivering full operational carbon neutrality across the site for 2025.
To date, three GONVVAMA factories — Shenyang, Changshu and Loudi plants — have been awarded the title of National‑level Green Factory. The successful delivery of carbon neutrality at Shenyang Plant further validates the replicability of the group’s zero‑carbon development roadmap.
The road ahead may be long, yet progress brings us closer to the goal. Achieving site‑wide carbon neutrality is not an end‑point, but a new starting‑line for green growth. Going forward, the group will roll out carbon‑neutrality practices proven at Shenyang and Changshu to its other production bases including Loudi and Chongqing. It will scale‑up clean‑energy investment, push forward energy‑saving process renovations and advance steadily toward its established low‑carbon strategic targets.
Rooted in its core automotive‑components business, GONVVAMA will continue to empower low‑carbon transformation across the whole automotive value chain through green smart manufacturing. Hand‑in‑hand with industrial‑chain partners, the company will march together toward a net‑zero future.
